Following an overland trip across Africa a “few” years ago we decided to give up the 9-5 and start a backpackers in Zambia. After staying in loads of places on our travels we decided that we wanted our hostel to be a clean, fun place to stay where you can get great travel advice. We then started our own safaris in Zambia with the principal of “quality safaris at an affordable cost”. After all whether you’ve paid $1000 for a hotel room or a $50 safari tent it’s the same Lion that your looking at.
Using the same principle for our hostels, quality at an affordable price, we’ve still got Lusaka Backpackers, and now have Cape Town Backpackers as well.
We hope that where ever you stay with us you have a great time, but if you don’t stay with us but just want some advice please drop us a line.

Chachacha was the name given to the period of time in which the Zambians gained their independence in 1964. It became known as the Chachacha era, and hence Chachacha Backpackers was born. We’ve been Chachacha Backpackers for over 10 years now and although its a great name with people travelling more and more we wanted a name which would tell people instantly where we are. So we decided to call all our backpackers exactly what they are, a backpackers in a town. So we’ve got Cape Town Backpackers, Johannesburg Backpackers and now Lusaka Backpackers! We’ve kept the name for the bar though, somethings never change, the Cha Bar has been an institution in Lusaka for as long as we’ve been there.
You might need to tell Taxi drivers to take you to Chachacha though, some people are like elephants and never forget!
